Fall 2024 What If... Grantees Announced

The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the Fall 2024 recipients of What If... Grants.

Modeled after the Gifford Foundation in Syracuse, NY, the “What If…” Mini Grant program is a community-led, collaborative philanthropic approach that actively involves communities in the decision-making process.

This approach empowers community members to make decisions about projects and programs that best serve their neighbors and helps deepen the relationship and build trust between the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation and the people we serve.

The maximum amount available for a project through this initiative is $5,000.

Rainbow Bridging: LGBTQ+ Case Management Services - Collar City Pride, Inc. received a grant to enhance case management for LGBTQ+ individuals in Rensselaer County, focusing on transgender and non-binary clients.

The Life Toolkit - Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church received a grant to support The Life Toolkit: Practical Knowledge for Everyday Living, a monthly program at Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion, offering free life skills sessions on topics like finance, health, and legal planning, with giveaways, meals, and expert advice.

Hoosic Falls Community Porch – MaryJo Charron (under the fiscal sponsorship of Unity House) was awarded funding to create the Hoosick Falls Community Porch, a 24 hour food pantry.

Caribbean Heritage Month Celebration – Allison Joseph (under the fiscal sponsorship of the Arts Center of the Capital Region) received funding to support Troy for Caribbean American Heritage Month at June 2025’s Troy Night Out.  The event highlighted Caribbean culture through partnerships with Troy BID, local artists and volunteers.
